In 3D printing, I often make large, to scale props of some pretty intense video game and costume weapons. With the weight of them and the overall not-so-gentle nature of conventions, I often incorporate PVC pipes to ensure the core of the prop is solid and durable.
Often times, parts of the pipe show as the handle of a sword or the main body of a staff – which means they need a little bit of beautification to blend in with the cosplay.
This shows a general shopping list of items I use and the process I follow when working with PVC pipes for my props.
* Please note that while this helps the prop be more durable, it does NOT mean the prop can be swung around or handled roughly. Use your best judgement and be mindful when handling and playing with props!
Best of luck and happy cosplaying!
